General
What is Filming at My House?
Filming at My House connects film, television, photography and other production teams with property owners who make their spaces available as locations.
Which areas do you cover?
We list locations across the United Kingdom. Search by town, city, postcode or area to see suitable spaces.
How do I contact support?
Email hello@filmingatmyhouse.com with your account email, listing or enquiry details and we will help.
For film crews and renters
Does it cost anything to search?
No. You can browse locations and send an availability request without paying a search fee.
How do I request a location?
Open the listing, enter your shoot date, crew size, production type and message, then send the request to the owner.
What should I include in my request?
Include proposed dates and hours, crew size, equipment, access needs, the nature of the production and any unusual activity such as smoke, animals or exterior lighting.
Is the advertised day rate the final price?
Not always. The owner may adjust the price for crew size, shoot length, preparation, overtime, cleaning or the nature of the production. You will see the agreed owner fee and the platform booking fee before payment.
When is the exact address shared?
Public listings show only a general location. Exact access information is kept private and shared as part of a confirmed booking.
Can I arrange a recce before booking?
Ask the owner through your enquiry. Whether a recce is possible, and whether it carries a fee, depends on the property and owner.
What happens after an owner accepts?
The agreed price and booking details are confirmed, then you receive the next payment step. Keep key requirements in the enquiry so both sides have a clear record.
Can an owner reject my request?
Yes. Owners remain in control of their property and can decline a production that is unsuitable or conflicts with availability.
What if my dates or requirements change?
Tell the owner as soon as possible. Material changes to dates, hours, crew size or activity may require a revised offer and price.
For property owners
Is it free to list my property?
Yes. Creating and publishing a standard listing is free, and no card is required to start.
What kinds of property can I list?
Homes, flats, gardens, studios, warehouses, land and unusual spaces can all be useful. Character, access and production practicality often matter more than perfection.
Do I have to accept every enquiry?
No. You choose which productions suit your property, schedule and house rules. You can accept, discuss or reject each request.
Will my exact address or phone number be public?
No. Use a general area on the public listing. Private contact and access details are not displayed to people browsing the marketplace.
How should I set my day rate?
Consider the property, location, crew capacity, shoot hours and disruption involved. Your rate is a starting point and you can make a tailored offer for each production.
What photos should I upload?
Use clear, recent landscape photos showing the main rooms, exterior, access, parking and distinctive details. Avoid heavy filters and remove personal or security-sensitive information.
Can I edit or pause my listing?
Yes. You can update your property details and images. Contact support if you need help pausing or removing an imported listing.
When and how do I get paid?
Payment and payout details are shown as the booking progresses. Complete any requested account and payout checks promptly so payment is not delayed.
Do I need insurance?
You should check your home, property and public-liability cover and tell your insurer about commercial filming. Production companies should also hold suitable production insurance.
Do I need to declare the income?
Income from location hire may be taxable. Keep booking records and take advice from an accountant or HMRC based on your circumstances.
